9to5mac had a big scoop today with what looks like an official Apple photo of the yet-to-be announced Series 4 Apple Watch. I think it looks gorgeous with the new rose gold stainless steel finish and the larger watch faces.
At first glance, I thought that the Series 4 looked to be about the same thickness as my Series 3. I figured that at that particular angle, you don’t see the protruding ceramic heart rate apparatus on the back which caused an optical illusion of slimness. However, after I took a picture of my Series 3 at a similar angle and compared the two, it seems that the Series 4 may actually be slimmer. In the lower right corner, look at the bezel between the screen and the band. It’s wider on the Series 3.
Even with the slightly slimmer profile, I think if you get the silver stainless steel Series 4 and the watch face is not on, it will look almost exactly like the Series 3. The only give away will be the toned down crown. Instead of solid red, there is only a modest red ring.
