I never lose my AirPods Pro either because those aren’t my around-the-house AirPods. I only use those for running outside or traveling. When it comes to my daily music and podcast duties it is my trusty 2nd Gen AirPods which get put into my pocket every morning.
My wife suggested that I get an AirPods case with a carabiner attachment so I could loop an AirTags keychain to it. But that would defeat part of why I like my 2nd Gen AirPods so much. The case is so smooth and small that it slides in and out of my pocket with ease. It’s one of the major reasons that I prefer the 2nd Gen AirPods over my AirPods Pro.
I don’t want a thick case with a keychain attached to it. And for the carabiner to be reliably strong, the case needs to be thick. Otherwise, it would be in danger of snapping off. And anything that is made of silicone is just horrible for getting in and out of your pocket.
What I REALLY want is for the next generation of AirPods to have a charging case with the equivalent of AirTags build in. Then when I leave my AirPods in a jacket or out on my patio, I can just pick up my iPhone and find them again. And if it’s built-in, the charging case could stay smooth and small.
