Steve Jobs Movie Reaction - Aaron Sorkin May Have Solved Mankind's Greatest Problem

I went into this movie not wanting to like it but walked out loving it. It's refreshing to see a movie aimed at adults that relies on intelligent dialogue and facial expressions to convey drama and move the story. You'd think that two hours of people standing around talking might get a little boring, but you'd be wrong. I was captivated right from the beginning, and it didn't let up until the credits started rolling. Even the pre-movie commercial chiding the audience to put away their phones made me smirk considering who this movie was about. In fact, I had the hardest time in memory finding a good place to go to the restroom because there were no boring parts.

You know how when you were in grade school and it became evident that two kids on the playground were about to face off and all the kids stopped what they were doing and couldn't help but watch? The tension was so thick you could feel it because you knew it was going down. The chant "fight, fight, fight" started ringing through the air, and everyone was on edge, waiting to see who was going to throw the first punch. That pretty much sums up the feeling you had in this movie ... for a full two hours.

Even though I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, I could plainly tell that the Steve Jobs in this movie was more of a caricature. It didn't seem believable to me that the real Steve Jobs would have been this one dimensional. But yet, Aaron Sorkin did such a great job depicting the  sense of struggle and conflict that we imagine Steve must have endured. He told a great story, even if it may not have been very accurate.

The experience got me to thinking about how the real genius of Aaron Sorkin should be channeled. Aaron's immense talent is going to waste on biographies that simply anger the masses. This man's genius needs to be focused on the biggest first-world problem know to man ... movie trailers need to stop ruining our movies

The world is blessed with a screenwriter like Aaron who has the gift of painting incredibly vivid pictures that convey deep emotion and yet don't accurately portray the real thing. This guy needs to write movie trailers! That way movie makers can still get their audience worked up into a frenzy of desire but yet when the people walk into the movie everything is a surprise because the trailer only vaguely resembles what's in the movie. The trailer would simply try to capture the energy and emotion of the movie but would have different actors and create scenes that aren't even in the movie. Sorkin movie trailers would no longer use actual movie footage. Everyone's happy! Problem solved.

If the movie trailer problem was to go away forever then even the die-hard Steve Jobs fans would have to admit that this movie was a small price to pay for it.
