From a percentage standpoint, the watch has been making larger performance gains than the iPhone. It’s also still in the early stage where it’s still gaining major features. Plus, unlike the iPhone which is not really “attached” to your body the watch can bring features that the iPhone never can. Heart Rate monitoring is only the beginning.
What will Series 5 bring? I’m guessing that Apple will start to follow a similar pattern as the iPhone and make each year either hardware or software focused. Since the Series 4 was all about new hardware, the Series 5 should bring some serious new software features only available on the Series 5.
I’d love to see an always-on screen come to the Series 5. A big part of what makes a watch look distinctive or attractive is how the face looks. As long as all Apple Watches display a black rectangle, they will always look the same. But once an always-on screen becomes available, you can start to project a certain look or color scheme.
From a larger perspective, I’ve been real happy with how the Apple Watch fits into my life. Having my favorite widgets on my wrist is much nicer than having to pull my iPhone out of my pocket all the time. Here’s a little writeup on how I like to structure my watch complications.
I’d like for the Apple Watch to eventually become the be-all end-all device which all of my other devices revolve around. Meaning that my main cellular service is with my watch and all other screens would be an extension of my watch. But considering how far away our battery technology is, I’m not hoping for that any time soon.
