Devs is a smart new science fiction show on Hulu which was well worth my time. If you like old school science fiction which depends on drama and dialogue to hold your attention versus mindless action then you are in luck. Devs manages to tell an original new story while keeping you on the edge of your seat without resorting to cheap action tricks.
Devs is a smart new science fiction show on Hulu which was well worth my time. If you like old school science fiction which depends on drama and dialogue to hold your attention versus mindless action then you are in luck. Devs manages to tell an original new story while keeping you on the edge of your seat without resorting to cheap action tricks.
The music is great, the acting is superb, and the story is highly intriguing. I can’t say too much without ruining the unfolding of the story. Suffice it to say that you’ll know by the end of the first episode whether you’ll like this show or now. And forget about predicting what is going to happen, because you’ll be wrong.
And this show is in line with my world view that it is those who are in the business of moving data who are truly changing the world. Moving people or packages hasn’t really changed much in 50 years. Yeah, our cars are nicer and packages arrive quicker, but the basic laws of physics will push back on any revolutionary change in moving items from point A to B.
Manipulating data on the other hand is a vastly different story. Mankind is only at the very beginning of what we can do on that front. And change is accelerating. And not just storing and moving data, but the creation of it as well. The better we are at storing and disseminating data, the more knowledge we can accumulate.
And data is what the show Devs is all about.
