So this year’s edited WWDC Keynote with it’s tighter timeline was a joy to watch. I much preferred the fast pace of information delivery versus the usual waiting for people to walk on stage, walk off, waiting for a demo game to load, etc. There were no wasted seconds. It was better than a YouTube montage.
It’s been a month since WWDC has concluded and I’ve seen a few takes by Apple writers who opined for a return to the old live format. That’s crazy. I think that what you prefer says more about you than the quality of the Keynote. Most of those who I’ve heard who want the old live format are people who used to attend personally or probably want to in the future. I think what they really want is a good old fashioned church revival. Where they can gather with the other faithful and bask in the exhortation from the Apple evangelists.
In the past, I’ve had a hard time sitting through an entire WWDC opening Keynote. But not this time. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it, and when it was over, I thought “It’s already done?”. This was the best WWDC opening Keynote ever. I hope Apple keeps this format.
