Meanwhile, there have been countless crashes that are not simply connected to Tesla, but Tesla software is the direct cause. Tesla customers have literally had their heads chopped off and been burned alive. No, I’m not talking about an Islamic Terrorist cell but an American car company. Tesla’s cars are smashing into concrete barriers and parked vehicles on the shoulder at full speed. Sometimes they accelerate into these obstacles or people with no sign of braking.
Tesla fans say that the net impact of this self-driving software is positive. They say that the roads are safer overall. However, it appears that this logic is rejected by federal aviation authorities. Self-flying software and automated flying controls make flying safer overall. But it’s an unacceptable outcome to “have a few crashes”.
It only took two crashes for aviation authorities to ground the Boeing 737 and it’s potentially faulty software. Where is the NHTSA when it comes to safety on our highways? Hardly a week goes by that we don’t see a Tesla in the news for accidents due to unintentional acceleration or sudden severe braking. How many more people need to be mowed over? And Tesla has been less than transparent with most of these accidents. Customers have had to resort to lawsuits to get access to their own crash data.
Meanwhile, the NHTSA and the mainstream press look the other way because Tesla is in a precarious position and no one wants to be blamed for it’s demise. Well, I’m sorry, but I don’t want these cars sharing the road with me and my family. Tesla customers may willingly take on that risk but neither I or my kids certainly didn’t sign up for the risk of Tesla’s horrible self-driving software.
If Elon Musk doesn’t want Tesla or its share price to be unduly harmed from negative press, then he should have thought about that before he unleashed his dangerous software on public roads. All so he could recognize revenue for self-driving software.
346 people have been killed by Boeing 737s thus far. Mark my words, many more than that will be killed by Tesla.
