Musk’s Twitter Fiasco Makes Sense Now

7/4/2022

So on the Saturday of a 3-day holiday weekend, Tesla reported hugely disappointing delivery numbers in the hopes that no one would notice. Or at least forget by Tuesday. The party is over folks. The whole Tesla growth story is running on fumes and it won’t be long before the stock price crashes.
I don’t know who this guy @Deansheikh1 is but he guessed it right on January 26th when he predicted that Elon Musk would finally sell his stock in Tesla in 2022. He sold his stock under the guise of a bid to purchase Twitter.

The whole Twitter fiasco kind of makes sense now that we can see what Elon Musk knew for months now. The whole Tesla growth story is falling apart. And as many have noted, it really fell apart in the 1st quarter. Tesla squeaked by a “record” by a few cars only by redefining what actually constitutes a delivery. And they decided that the customer actually getting their car didn’t need to happen

It's amazing that Musk’s word means absolutely nothing. He said during Q2 that the plant shutdowns would have no significant impact on deliveries. Boy was he wrong. And he does stuff like that all the time. That right there should disqualify someone from the office of CEO. A company needs a CEO, that when he speaks, the market will listen and take seriously. That’s not the case with Musk. Musk’s word means nothing and he’s now known as a clown.

For years Musk has been in golden hand cuffs. He had billions of dollars of Tesla stock but couldn’t sell any of it for fear of causing a stampede. I think the true aim of the whole Twitter purchase was just to give him cover to sell a significant portion of his Tesla stock before the price craters. Mission accomplished.

Whether he actually buys Twitter now or not is irrelevant. The goal all along was to give him a plausible excuse to sell billions of dollars of Tesla stock.

In fact, I actually think he’d prefer to keep his cash and not buy Twitter. Although, I doubt the Twitter board is going to let him off the hook very easily. Musk knew about the Twitter bots all along. As I wrote just a few days ago, his account has among the most of anyone in the world.
