However, the professional detailer found numerous spots on the Tesla that had paint overspray and scratches. There were also spots on the car with no paint at all. Yes, I wrote that correctly. There were areas of the car that were literally devoid of any paint. It was just black plastic.
The paint job was so bad that after consulting with the owner, they cancelled all the work and the owner decided to return his Model Y. There was no word on what the owner wanted in return. My advice would be to get an EV from any automaker but Tesla.
Tesla has been saying for years that they will improve their quality. And yet, they never do. The problem is priorities which flow from the top and owners who don’t complain. As long as Musk is in charge and current owners don’t complain, nothing will change. But this limits the Tesla market to only die-hard fans willing to put up with quality worse than anything the Soviet Union ever produced.
No one can in good faith ever say that Tesla is “the next Apple”. Because Apple would never allow this to happen. In fact, it would be much more accurate to say that Tesla is “the opposite of Apple”.
The Apple Way - Delay products even if it hurts revenue. Stock price be damned.
The Tesla Way - Ship products even if it hurts quality in order to raise revenue. Product defects be damned.
These are two very different companies on two very different tracks.
